The brief for this bedroom was to create a calm space – our client travels a lot and she needed a bedroom she could retreat to and rest in.

Founder Olivia explains, 'The stairwell spans four floors and an entrance hall so we wanted it to be welcoming and warm, and to complement the rooms leading off from it, as well as the stair runner.'

Over the past ten years, Olivia’s eponymous studio has crafted unique, lively interiors, blending traditional techniques with modern freshness, and gaining prestigious industry recognition.

At Olivia Outred Studio the procurement process starts in-house. Our base is a listed upholstery workshop near Brick Lane in East London. We find a lot of our inspiration here down the cobbled streets and across the façades of the beautiful Huguenot houses around Spitalfields Market.

Don’t despair if you don’t have original features in your home If you don’t have the energy to reinstate a cornice in your room then consider using a piece of trim, like a fan edge, at the very top where the wall meets the ceiling, and using small nails or upholstery pins, tack it into position.
